How to search - obtaining access to items in the database

Please contact your nearest library service such as a public or university library to
obtain copies of theses, although some theses will be available online.


Basic Search

Basic search allows you to search quickly in the box at the top of the screen. The
search includes the entire content of the database. Click on the Search button.


Refine your search

You can limit your search by using the facets on the right of the screen

Subject focus - select the broad Subject category from the drop down list

Department - the faculty or organisation through which the thesis has been published

Locality - the place or places about which the thesis is written

Date - put in the year required or select from the year range required, from the Date side bar



Sorting

Results can be sorted by relevancy, date or title. Click on the categories
at the top of the results page to sort.


Advanced search

Keyword - Enter a Keyword in the Search box and click on the Search button.

Subject focus - Select the Subject category from the drop down list.

Locality - the place or places about which the thesis is written

Author - Type in the author's surname, which is not case sensitive and
click on the Search button.

Date - Select from the Date side bar of the year range required.


Hints
Use an Asterisk * as a wild card when looking for part of a word
e.g geomorphol* will find geomorphological or geomorphology

Use Quotation marks " " to search for a definite term
e.g "university of auckland" will find all the University of Auckland theses
